Blackheads on Nose
Frustrations with blackheads on nose
Blackheads on nose is, admittedly, a very frustrating and unsightly problem. I remember the first time I started really noticing my blackheads, a friend of mine had to point it out.
Over the years it got worst, bigger, and deeper. It’s not only embarrassing to have blackheads on your nose, but it’s ridiculously frustrating trying to remove them and fail at finding a permanent solution. Read below to find out what I did about it and what you can do today.
What are blackheads?
While most likely, we suffer from having blackheads on our noses, blackheads can be on our face and other parts of our body. The first step in understanding how to remove blackheads is to learn exactly what blackheads are.
Blackheads are black or yellowish oil buildup in our pores. This oil, when exposed to air, oxidizes, forming dark bumps, often times protruding above our pores, giving the quintessential ”blackhead” look.
This typically results from the skin overproducing oil. This happens especially around puberty, but many adults suffer this as well.
What causes blackheads on nose?
The foremost reason for blackheads on nose is the over production of oil as mentioned above. The oily skin produces too much oil that builds up in the pores and gets clogged as mentioned above. If you want to know how to get rid of blackheads on nose, you have to keep this fact in mind.
However, blackheads on nose can form as a result of dirt or makeup blocking the pores. But ultimately, the nose is an open surface that is simply an unfortunately ideal environment for blackheads to form. Throughout the day, oil production combined with dirt, makes it very easy for these blackheads on nose to develop.
Whiteheads vs. blackheads
A similar condition to blackheads, are whiteheads. Their nature is similar, but there is no pore opening, so the oil that builds up does not oxidize and turn black like blackheads.
Whiteheads, like blackheads, occur as a result of debris and some bacteria gets trapped where the oil (sebum) and bacteria stay below the skin’s surface. Whiteheads may show up as tiny white spots, or they may be so small that they are invisible to the naked eye.
Blackheads, on the other hand, are very visible, which is why it tends to be of greater concern.
Getting rid of blackheads on nose
There are many ways to get rid of blackheads. There are benzyl peroxide face washes, there are pore extractors, and there are other methods such as the Oil Cleansing Method (commonly referred to as OCM). I have created a whole page specific to this topic, read more at how to get rid of blackheads on nose and find out the most effective ways to keep them away for good.
